try & except in Python and C++

Well, i’m going to be finishing my BS in Computer Science from Western Governors University, I already have my A.S. I’m waiting on financial aid. Also, i am waiting to start computer archictecutre classes. Please, what do you think of this following file (try except in C++). I am wondering what it would think to start an embedded career?
